The Islamabad police despite registration of a First Information Report (FIR) almost a week ago are yet to arrest the suspect who allegedly raped a Sweden national working with the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF). The rape incident occurred on the night of June 6, Monday, while the case was registered in early hours of Tuesday, June 7.
According to the FIR registered with Aabpara Police Station, the Unicef official had joined the international organization in January this year and the man who allegedly raped her was the guard of a private security firm Harris Enterprises. He was deployed at her house located in G-6/4 since March last.
According to the FIR, the Unicef official alleged he entered her bedroom while she was trying to sleep and pinning her on the bed sexually assaulted her.
A senior police official when contacted confirmed Muhammad Safeer who belonged to Chakri village of Gujar Khan Tehsil was at large since the incident took police and the police despite efforts was unable to trace or arrest him. Our investigation is underway and soon we shall be able to arrest the culprit, said an official of the Aabpara Police.
