Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation & Settlement, Aqib Ullah Khan, has said that the provincial government is striving to enhance local-level capacity to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
He emphasized that addressing these escalating challenges is a shared responsibility and called upon the federal government to fulfill its due obligations in this regard.
He expressed these views while addressing a consultative meeting regarding the National Environmental Strategy and National Adaptation Plan held in Peshawar yesterday.
The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming monsoon season, reducing flood risks, improving early warning systems, and monitoring rivers and streams. Discussions also covered the identification of vulnerable areas, improvement of drainage systems, and community awareness campaigns to ensure the protection of human lives and infrastructure through comprehensive and effective planning.
