LAHORE, (INP): Ameer, Jamaat e Islami Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the tales of the Pakistani rulers’ corruption in the world media had brought down the country’s image to a new low. He was speaking at the oath taking ceremony of the JI Youth at Lower Dir on Tuesday.
Sirajul Haq said that after Panama leaks, scandal of additional plots and properties of Mian Nawaz Sharif and his family in England had surfaced. He said the rulers’ boat was about to sink in the sea of corruption and the only way out for them was to sincerely repent on their misdeeds, admit the facts, and return the plundered public money.
To a question regarding the Prime Minister’s request in the Supreme Court for immunity, the JI chief said this clearly showed that there was something wrong and an attempt was being made to hide the facts. He said that seeking immunity at a time when the Supreme Court was discussing the Prime Minister’s speeches was tantamount to pleading guilty. He said the Prime Minister had himself stated that he would not seek immunity, therefore, he had no right to make such a request.
The JI chief condemned the government’s indifference on Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s issue. He said the rulers totally lacked sense of national prestige and honour. He said the US government was inclined to release the country’s respected lady Dr Aafia Siddiqui, but the government was not ready to make a written request in this respect. He said that Dr Aafia’s counsel in the US had reported that if Islamabad wrote a letter to the US authorities at this moment, Dr Aafia would surely be released.
He said that Dr Aafia’s aged mother had personally informed him that Mian Nawaz Sjarif had visited their house before 2013 elections and assured her that he would bring the detained lady home. However, he said that the Premier had not fulfilled his word during last four years.
Sirajul Haq pointed out that the Pakistani rulers had released CIA agent Raymond Davis who had killed three innocent Pakistanis in broad day light. On the other hand, they had detained Aenmal Kansi, Yousuf Ramzi and Dr Aafia Siddiqui, and handed them over to the enemy.
He said that Dr Aafia Siddiqui was one of a most outstanding lady, a Hafiz of the Holy Quran and the first Gold Medal winning Scientist but was facing 86 years in jail.
Scores of the ANP and JUI (F) workers announced their joining the JI on the occasion.
These included some elected councilors, Nazims and the Ulema.
Provincial Minister for Finance Muzaffar Sayed, MPA Aizaz ul Mulk, provincial General Secretary, JI, Abdul Wasey and JI district chief Maulana Asadullah, also spoke on the occasion.
