The community of teachers, doctors, nurses, and other frontline workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has come under attack from 2nd spike of coronavirus.
The cases evicted from schools, colleges, universities and hospitals caused constant panic among their families.
KP has witnessed an uptick in the Covid-19 positivity ratio for the second time which is called 2nd spike of the covid-19 or second wave of coronavirus but this time the alarming things in the pandemic are that the cases are being reported either from educational or health institutions.
Besides, that the province has seen the death of 20 doctors, reports say that during the last one week 16 health workers of Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH), half of them doctors were infected by coronavirus as the pandemic continue to hit health professional throughout the province.
Similarly, the administration of districts including Swabi, Bajaur, and Balakot after pursuance of the reported cases of covid -19 in teaching staff and students ordered to close six, two in each district, schools for a minimum of five days.
The university of Khushal Khan Khattak also reported more than 11 cases of coronavirus and after the recommendation of district health officer the university has been closed down for five days.
Last month, after testing about 500 students of Khyber Medical University (KMU) for the virus administration decided to also close the three male hostels as well the KMC for two weeks.
With positivity rate 1.33 percent, Since, 15 of last month, more than 1200 have tested positive for the virus in schools.
The overall infection rate among the health and frontline workers are also high and alarming. So far, the country has recorded 8436 cases among health workers.
A report by the World Health Organisation (WHO) that 2,512 health worker professionals including 1,080 doctors, 1,059 other workers, and 373 nurses were infected by the virus since February when the pandemic started.
Mortality the rate among health workers is high as 21 people have died of the Covid-19. The data of recorded cases among the general population in the province is also showing an increasing trend on Wednesday the province has recorded 140 news infections.
So far the province has registered 39,889 cases and 1,281 have passed away due to coronavirus infection.
As far as prevention of the virus is concern the situation in hospitals, OPDs, wards, and classrooms were not satisfactory.
The administration of the hospitals is bound to provide treatment to the people and teachers professional have to attend the classes whether SOPs are being followed or not the government is likely waiting for an unprecedented surge.
