Pakistan Cricket Team on Sunday night left for New Zealand to take part in tri-nation Twenty20 Internationals’ series along with hosts New Zealand and Bangladesh, it emerged.
Pakistan’s World Cup preparations are at final stages but faced a dent when England took a home series away from Green Shirts Sunday night by defeating them in the series decider here at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Fans were left in dismay as their team apparently succumbed to a defeat at the hands of England even without giving a fight-back. Many loop-holes were visible in Pakistan’s playing eleven – while fielding and top middle order being the most apparent.
However, soon after the match ended, Pakistan cricket team left from Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore for New Zealand via Dubai in the wee hours of Monday to participate in the T20I tri-series.
Pakistan squad comprising 16 players and 13 support staff will reach Christchurch on October 4 where they will be facing Bangladesh and New Zealand in a tri-series which will begin on October 7.
This series will be essential for all three teams as it will provide them a chance to give the final touch to their preparation prior to the T20 World Cup 2022, which will be held in Australia.
