Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Mian Iftikhar Hussain has expressed deep grief over deaths of four persons in Bannu bomb blast and anti-encroachment operation in Puran, Shangla.
In a statement on here on Tuesday, he said Malik Anar was martyred and two others injured in Bannu blast, while two persons were killed during an operation against encroachments in Aluch, Puran.
Mian Iftikhar said incidents of terrorism had made life miserable for people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He questioned why law and order situation was not improving despite governor’s rule and emergency.
“Governor’s rule and emergency were imposed in the name of ending terrorism and restoring peace, but why has terrorism not ended despite these measures? Why is there no reduction in such incidents?” he asked.
He said on one hand precious lives were being lost in terrorism, while on other people were being harassed in the name of encroachments.
He said those whose private property did not fall under encroachments should not be harassed without reason, as such actions would only add to problems.
Mian Iftikhar said KP was already facing severe economic difficulties, with trade and industry slowing down and business activities being affected, while people were worried about employment.
He questioned in which direction KP was being pushed, saying people needed peace, security, employment and better economic conditions.
He said foremost responsibility of government was to take practical steps to end terrorism, restore law and order and provide relief to people, rather than taking measures that further increased their difficulties.
He expressed condolences with bereaved families and prayed for higher place in paradise for deceased and early recovery of injured.
