Last week, I had the opportunity to visit china with a 11 member delegation of Council of Pakistan Newspaper editors (CPNE) with an idea to promote bilateral relations between Pakistan and china and hats off to our friends in china who made this visit a great success, This visit was hosted by china economic net which operates under the aegis of economic daily group of china; the net is enormous organization of websites running in English and Chinese languages.
Without wasting time after warm welcome at Beijing airport by a vibrant team of china economic net, the delegation was on the move. The team accompanied us to all the visiting places in the two cities we visited, Beijing and Shenzen ‘’former fishing colony’’, now registering itself among top 30 most innovative cities of the world within a short period of 40 years. The delegation was briefed on the social and economic prosperity of china, possibilities of mutual cooperation between two countries, china’s support to Pakistan in energy, infrastructure and social-economic sectors. The delegation had the chance to not only witness the huge success but also the commitment and continuous effort which has led to this huge economic and social success.
I have been to over 20 countries and have visited over 100 cities mostly in Europe, America and Asia. I have met people of all ages, income abilities, and nationalities on the roads. I wish I could tell you something about each one of them.
This was my first visit to china and I have seen all good things about china and its people. The Chinese people have benefited greatly from the country’s rapid economic growth, whether in terms of wage increase, living convenience or a general sense of happiness. What makes them different from the rest of the world is their trust on their government and why not! More than 700 million Chinese farmers have been lifted out of dire poverty over the last 40 years. By the end of this year the number of Chinese grappling with extreme poverty will drop by 85 percent from six years ago. The senior management have gone through a long path and they exactly knows what kind of system is stable and good for their people. What I observed is that the Chinese people do not ‘’ARGUE’’— They accept the decision making of their government religiously and that’s also proven by the fact that Chinese don’t go on a movement to fight their government. They don’t think of it, they work, entertain, travel, eat, shop, learn and they feel happy enough they can do anything they want, China remains a socialist society with a capitalist economy carefully calibrated by the state. Today Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen amongst other in china are busting cities.
The unbelievable progress and development of china with a short period of 40 years makes it a DARLING COUNTRY.
