Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmad has said giving job to son in place of father is strange and the jobs given this way lead to eliminate merit system completely.

He further remarked it can not be done so that son should be appointed after the death of father. The law was enacted for low paid employees. But the sons of officers are appointed. ASI son says he should be appointed direct DSP. Government officers are not the thing which are given in inheritance.

The court maintained those children will be entitled to Prime Minister (PM) package whose parents died during service after 2005.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by CJP Gulzar Ahmad took up the case for hearing Tuesday.

Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel remarked initially this law was for police and other martyrs.

Additional Attorney General told the court PM Package is applicable from 2005.

The court while declaring the decision of Peshawar High Court wrapped the case of Siraj Muhammad.
The petitioner had filed petition seeking court’s orders for his appointment in place of his father. The federal education ministry rejected his application. Peshawar High Court had ordered to appoint Siraj Muhammad. Lal Muhammad father of Siraj Muhammad had passed away during his service in 2000.
