Amun Taraqqi Party chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah said people aren’t concerned about who is returning to Pakistan and power but the masses want a leadership which will be fully capable to steer the country out from crisis and resolve their issues.
Shah backlashed the alleged attempts to delay elections, saying that timely polls are vital to bring political and economic stability in the country.
According to a statement issued here on Tuesday, the ATP chairman strongly opposed the imposition of emergency in Pakistan and stressed that it is in dire need of hour to flourish democracy and democratic norms and culture in the country.
He said the public wanted to go into elections instead of taking to the streets, adding that the 13-party coalition had failed to deliver the masses in 14 months.
Faiq emphasized that the legislation should be made in the best interest of people and the country.
“If the laws were promulgated in light of public desires and requirements, then the current situation couldn’t have occurred in the country”,
He asserted it is imperative to deliver justice and facilities at the public doorstep.
Otherwise, he said the dream of sustainable progress would be unachievable.
Backing a stance that had been taken by a military spokesman, he said that the military had sent a clear message to everyone that all people are equal before the law.
He said that the army had also mentioned that no one is above the law in this country.
He said, “The DG ISPR’s press conference highlighted the country’s defence policy.
The army has emphasised through self-accountability that nothing is more important than a country’s integrity”.
He said May 9 arsonists should be brought to justice.
“Anything can be given up for the sake of the country.
Every patriot’s red line is this country. The arsonists are not worthy of any relief”, Shah maintained.
