As per order of the government of Pakistan Torkham border was resumed for pedestrians four days a week here on Tuesday. In a notification issued last day stated that all the crossings with Afghanistan in KP will be functioned four days a week i.e Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday for pedestrians crossing. According to the border security official in Torkham, an Afghan nationals having legal documents (passport and visa) were permitted to cross into Pakistan and in the same way Pakistani citizens with passports were let to move to Afghanistan via Torkham border.
As per information,provided by NADRA center Torkham till evening 260 Afghan citizens crossed into Pakistan similarly more than Pakistani went to Afghanistan through Torkham border.
Noorul Ahad, resident of Jalalabad, Afghanistan expressed his amusement over the reopening of the Torkham border and the Afghanis had business and blood ties with the people of Pakistan and the recent development would have a positive effect on their knots.
He asked for relaxation in the visa process called for permanent opening of the PAK-Afghan Sharing border Torkham.
It is to be mentioned here on March 16, 2020, due to COVID 19 pandemic the Pak government suspended western border with Afghanistan for all kind of movement that was partially recommenced approximately two months back for pedestrians passing only a day in week(Saturday).
