Hundreds of freight and container vehicles remain stranded at Azakhel Dry Port after customs officials refused to clear them, triggering protests outside Peshawar Press Club (PPC).
Protesters, including container owners, customs agents, and importers, accused officials of deliberately delaying clearance, leaving 400 containers stuck at the port.
They claimed the delay is causing $180 per container in fines and billions in losses to the national exchequer.
The containers, carrying clothes, food items, tea, and other goods, remain uncleared, affecting provincial revenue. Protesters also noted that the KP government has halted the two percent cess tax payments.
They urged the federal government to take immediate action against customs officials to resolve the crisis.
