The tribesmen of Aka Khel suspended frontier road against unscheduled and prolonged power off here sheen drang market, subdivision Bara, district Khyber on Tuesday. Led by their elite Noorzali Afridi, a number of locals appeared at the road and initiated a protest sit-in on the main road, suspending it for all kinds of traffic.
The protestors were of the view that until acceptance of their demand of ensuring smooth flow of electricity to them ,they would not give up their agitation.
Speaking on the occasion their leader Noorzali Afridi categorically condemned the injustice and irresponsible attitude of the Tesco and Wapda officials towards their misery and said that for the last weeks, the supply of the power to Aka Khel area had been cut off. Besides intensifying the problem of potable water accessibility, the Tesco officials had left them on the mercy of Allah in the chilly weather, he remarked.
He further added that they convoyed their grievance to the highup however they turned blind eyes towards their problem. The protestors threatened that till assertion of the concerned officials for supply of electricity, they would continue their agitation.
Due to road blockage exports and transit transportation to Afghanistan was temporarily halted and long queues of vehicles were witnessed at both sides of the barricade point.
