Washington
Reporters working in conjunction with Elon Musk have released files showing that Twitter, despite previously promising to root out government-backed Tweets that aim to manipulate readers, actively aided the US defence department’s own bid to influence users of the social media site.
Musk, who bought the social media platform for $44 billion in October, has shared internal company documents with a number of handpicked journalists in recent weeks.
This new release marks the the eighth instalment of documents relating to what the company’s new head believes demonstrates its cosy relationship with the US government before he took over.
