CM KP condemns killing of two Sikh, directs police to arrest culprits

PESHAWAR
Two members of the Sikh community were murdered in a firing incident in Peshawar’s Sarband area on Sunday.
According to the police, the firing incident took place in the Bata Tal market within the remit of Sarband police station. The attackers managed to flee the scene. The victims were identified as 42-year-old Suljeet Singh and 38-year-old Ranjeet Singh. They owned a spices shop in the market.
The dead bodies have been moved to the hospital for postmortem. The police have cordoned of the area and gathered evidence from the scene. A search operation is also underway to arrest the killers.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mehmood Khan has taken the notice of the attack and sought a report from KP police inspector general. He has ordered the police to take swift action to arrest the killers.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday while strongly condemning the killing of two members of the Sikh community in Peshawar, directed the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure immediate arrest and punishment of the culprits.
He also urged the chief minister to ensure steps for the protection of the lives and properties of the citizens, particularly of the non-Muslims. The prime minister expressed sympathies with the bereaved families of the deceased Ranjeet Singh and Kanwal Singh.
The prime minister observed that enmity with Pakistan was the reason behind this act of terrorism and resolved to eliminate enemies of the country. He also assured the bereaved families of the complete support of the federal government.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday strongly condemned the suicide blast in Miranshah area of North Waziristan. In a statement, she said that miscreants wanted to disturb the law and order situation but such cowardly acts could not dampen the spirits of the nation.
“Sacrifices of security personnel for restoration of law and order in the country will not go in vain,” said the minister. The minister expressed her deep felt condolences to the families of security personnel and children martyred in the blast.
She prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved families to bear these irreparable losses with fortitude.
