Ufone data sites upgraded to 3G in South Waziristan: PTA

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has said that Ufone has completed up-gradation of its 2G sites in South Waziristan to 3G. According to a press statement issued on Tuesday, subsequent to the visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to South Waziristan, data services of cellular mobile operators (CMOs) were restored in the tribal district on 20th January 2021. Subsequently, a quality of service (QoS) survey was carried out by PTA in South Waziristan in order to check the on-ground status of telecom services. The PTA said that CMOs were asked to improve the services along with up-gradation of their data sites. Initially, Jazz which was providing 3G data services in South Waziristan, upgraded all of its 3G sites to 4G in February 2021. It is believed that this step will help in improving the communication experience of local community especially students, said the PTA The PTA said that it is continuously following up with CMOs to increase telecom infrastructure in the area so as to provide better voice and data services to the population of the area.
