Islamabad : Federal Minister and Head of National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) Asad Umar has said that those teachers who are yet to be vaccinated against coronavirus will not be able to continue their duties from August 1.
Addressing media talk along with Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Dr. Faisal Sultan, NCOC chief said that transportation will also be suspended after August 31 if the crew is un-vaccinated.
“Many are still taking virus lightly, while the infection rate has increased rapidly during past 24 hours”, Asad said, showing concerns.
Sharing some figures, Asad Umar said that positivity ratio is 7.5 percent, while number of patients under critical care has gone passed 3000.
SAPM on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan said that Karachi is under a higher threat for the spread of fourth wave of novel coronavirus. “Sindh government is trying its level best to prevent spread of coronavirus, and we will also help provincial government in every possible manner to achieve our targets”, the SAPM affirmed.
Faisal Sultan said that federal government is ready to provide Army and other forces to Sindh. Least implementation of Corona SOPs have been observed in Sindh and Baluchistan, Dr. Faisal Sultan said.
Federal Minister Asad Umar said that vaccination will be declared compulsory for those who want to travel through airways. We can’t defeat this virus by shutting down country, NCOC chief said.
The minister further said that vaccination is the only way through. It is a positive sign that people are getting vaccinated in mass numbers.
On the other hand, Pakistan reported 76 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 1,020,324. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 23,209 on Thursday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 4,497 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Till now 10,995 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 5,903 in Sindh, 4,435 in KP, 797 in Islamabad, 620 in Azad Kashmir, 326 in Balochistan, and 133 in GB.
Furthermore 374,434 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 354,904 in Punjab, 142,799 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 86,602 in Islamabad, 30,019 in Balochistan, 23,631 in Azad Kashmir and 7,935 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Pakistan has so far conducted 15,878,471 coronavirus tests and 59,707 in the last 24 hours. 937,354 patients have recovered in the country whereas 3,084 patients are in critical condition.
