University of Central Punjab wins athletics championship

University of Central Punjab won the All Pakistan Inter-University Athletics Championship organized by Peshawar University and in collaboration with HEC at Peshawar University Ground with 314 points. University of Punjab came second with 260 points and Superior University Lahore came third with 52 points. More than 250 players from twenty-seven universities from across the country participated in the competitions.
Chief Organizer and Director Sports Bahr Karam was the special guest at the closing ceremony, who distributed trophies and cash prizes among the players. Arshad Sattar, Sajjad Ahmed, Yahya Khan, Directors of Sports of various universities, DPAs and other officials were present.
Two final events were held yesterday in which Osama Hassan of Punjab University won first in the 5,000 meter race, Muhammad Shahid came second while Samiullah of the University of Punjab came third. In the final of the 4×400 meter relay race, the University of Central Punjab came first, the Punjab University Lahore came second and the University of Lahore came third. Sahibzada Kashif of the University of Peshawar set a new record in the discus throw with a throw of 15.66 meters.
The previous record was 14.90 meters. Sahibzada Kashif was congratulated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Johar Ali, Director Sports Bahr Karam and other sports circles on his great success and expressed hope that he will bring glory to the country and nation at the international level. In the 100 meter race final, Abdullah Baloch of UCP came first, Wajid Ali came second and Alam Ali Sher of the University of Punjab came third. In the 200 meter race, Fawad Khan of UCP came first, Ali Raza of the University of Punjab came second and Abu Bakr came third. In the 1500 meter race, Punjab University’s Samiullah came first, Abdullah Wahab came second and Usama Hassan came third.
In the 300 meter race, Asam Hassan came first, Samiullah came second and Muhammad Khabib came third. In the 110 meter hurdles, Abu Bakr came first, Saqib came second and Hamza came third. In the long jump, Superior University’s Ammar came first, UCP’s Farman Khan came second and Muhammad Abdullah came third. In the high jump, Abu Bakr came first, Ammar came second and Muhammad Ahmed Khan came third.
In the discus throw, UCP’s Mohiuddin came first, Muhammad Umar Khan came second and Syed Kashif from Peshawar University came third. In the shot put, Peshawar University’s Sahibzada Kashif came first, Wajidullah came second and Shoaib Yousuf came third. In the relay race, Central Punjab University came first, Punjab University came second and University of Lahore came third.
