UoP wins final of Successful Young Sports Driver University Badminton

University of Punjab successfully defended its title after winning the Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive Inter-University Badminton Championship played here at Hayatabad Sports Complex under the aegis of Directorate of Sports University of Peshawar here on Saturday.
International badminton player and current Pakistan No. 1 Murad Ali was the chief guest on this occasion who gave away trophies and cash prizes. A total of 16 teams from all across the country took part in the Championship.
Besides host University of Peshawar, the teams of University of Punjab Lahore, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, Balochistan University of Information Technology, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and Quaid-e-Azam University of Engineering Sciences and Technology Nawab. Shah, University of Bannu, Superior University Lahore, Government College University Lahore, University of Swat, Government College University Faisalabad, National University of Modern Languages (Namal, Islamabad), Institute of Business Management Karachi, University of Lahore and University of Central Punjab Lahore participated.
Assistant Registrar Noorzada Khan, Sajjad Khan, Badminton Coach Referee Hayatullah, President Sports Committee Peshawar University Professor Naseer Ahmed and other personalities were present during the final and presentation ceremony.
In the final Punjab University defeated University of Lahore team in the final. In the first singles Tayyab of Punjab University defeated Rohail of University of Lahore by 2-0. In the second singles Jalees of University of Lahore beat Hamza of Punjab University to level the tally 1-1. In the third single Shayan of Punjab University recorded victory against Rohail in straight sets and in the doubles Hamza and Tayyab beat Rohail and Rohan of University of Lahore.
Earlier, in the semi-final Yasir and Sohail of Superior University Lahore defeated Shayan and Umrez of University of Punjab in the first doubles. In the singles semi-finals, Arsalan won the singles semi-final. In the second semi-final match between GCU Lahore and University of Lahore, Raza Ali of GCU Lahore defeated Jalis Khan of University of Lahore. In the singles semi-finals, Rohail of University of Lahore defeated Saad of GCU Lahore by 22 runs. Jabbar Abu Dhar defeated Sajjad 21-16 and 21-17 in the doubles.
