3,223 electricity thieves arrested; fines exceeding rs. 560 million imposed: Engineer Ch. Khalid

Chief Executive IESCO, Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood, while sharing details of the ongoing anti- electricity theft campaign in the IESCO region, stated that a well-organized and continuous crackdown against electricity thieves is underway across the region.
He informed that since September 2023, IESCO’s Operations, M&T, and Surveillance teams have apprehended 6,533 electricity thieves during various operations. Individuals involved in this national crime have been fined more than Rs. 564.9 million. 3,223 electricity thieves have been arrested by the police. Several transformers and electricity meters involved in illegal connections have also been disconnected.
Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood stated that these actions have not only resulted in a significant reduction in line losses but have also contributed a substantial amount to the national exchequer. He reaffirmed IESCO’s firm commitment to continuing the vigorous crackdown against electricity theft.
He further urged consumers to fulfill their moral and national responsibility by reporting electricity theft through IESCO’s helpline number 118.
