ISLAMABAD, March 18 (Online): Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has said people have given us mandate for five years and we are here for five years and after five years we should be held accountability that what we did for the people and the country during our five years tenure.
He said this while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of 1500 flats project and later talking to the media men here.
He stated that 25 years old project has been translated into reality and homes have been provided to the poor people. It is big achievement. No one even had thought during the 25 years that this project should be given priority. People could not even think they would be able to construct their homes. No work has ever been done in our country for these people. No one has ever considered these segments of society.
He underlined that new Pakistan is name of new thinking. New Pakistan means to raise the poor and marginalized sections of society. Government first of all proves from its actions. It brings a new mindset and new governance system. This is right of the laborers and the poor people. Earlier they got the homes on rent and now these are their own homes. They will pay this rent in installments and get the ownership rights of these homes.
He underscored it is easy to build a home in villages. But the salaried class, laborers and the poor people donot have capability to construct home in the urban areas being the land expensive. It is impossible for them to construct home in the cities.
He remarked government gave subsidy of Rs 3 lac on every flat and we have stopped interest. The price will be paid in installments in next 20 years.
He pointed out that 1500 flats will be built in the next phase. This work is being started in Peshawar. We will provide homes to laborers on easy installments. No government in the world can distribute homes this way.
He stated that Corona has affected the entire world. It has inflicted loss to the economy. If Pakistan has remained safe it was only due to its construction industry. The prices of cement and iron has gone up. The construction industry has started running due to it. Construction industry provides job more than any other industry. This will create job opportunities besides enhancing the national wealth.
