Zil Ur Rehman Qureshi
I just wanted to share that the price of human life is just next to zero in Pakistan. Which is obviously a very unfortunate part. I am writing this article due to an incident happened two days before Eid in newly constructed IJP Road Rawalpindi in which two brothers were hit by coasters who were performing race near new katarian chungi. One brother died at spot and other died in hospital.
IJP road starts from Faizabad till Peshawar Road. This road is surrounded by thickly populated colonies and have no fencing in the surroundings of IJP Road. Almost daily accidents occur.
IJP Road is at the junction of Rawalpindi and Islamabad which carries heavy load of traffic daily on it. It’s the busiest road But unplanned. After its re-construction it was not considered that U turns should be in such a place from where vehicles can easily take turn. Flyovers for people crossing the roads should be available nearby so that people can cross road safely.
The most important is that the speed limit should be fixed 40 kms/hrs from Faizabad to Peshawar road. There should be no violation of Traffic rules particularly breaking rules of one way traffic. Traffic Police should be deputed to maintain traffic rules and heavy fines should be imposed on trespassers.
May be by doing this we can prevent such sad incidents in future.
