Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has remarked during the hearing on the petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) against the amendments in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Act in the Supreme Court that whether the court should stop the Parliament from bringing amendments.
A three-member special bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial, comprising Justice Ijazul Hassan and Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, heard the petition filed against the NAB amendments.
During the hearing on Imran Khan’s petition against NAB amendments, Imran Khan’s lawyer handed over documents of the Anti-Corruption Convention from the United Nations, the European Union and the African Union.
The Chief Justice said that according to you there are some benchmarks regarding corruption which have to be maintained.
Right now the UAE is also on the gray list due to weak money laundering laws. Court asked to discuss the fundamental rights in the case.
Imran Khan’s lawyer Khawaja Haris said that corruption affects fundamental rights.
The right to fair trial and equality also affected, while Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan said that public trust is also damaged by misuse of public money.
On this occasion, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah remarked that your words are a good speech for Parliament.
Khawaja Haris said that no one in the parliament is ready to listen, they are doing according to their will.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said that one should be in Parliament to listen.
If you (PTI) win the elections, bring your amendments.
Khawaja Haris said that every country in the world is asking for stricter corruption laws and punishments.
The Chief Justice said that Khawaja Haris thinks that it will be difficult to catch those who escaped.
Khawaja Haris said that in the Swiss Accounts case, all the records disappeared as soon as the case was over.
The accused were acquitted due to the lack of original documents in the NAB references, Ishaq Dar could not have returned if 31A had not ended.
Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan questioned that as a nation can we afford all this.
Petitions for acquittal are pouring in, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah remarked that if anyone does this, the people will not vote for him.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said that the more arguments you give, the further away we will be from the match.
Along with this, the Supreme Court adjourned further hearing of the case (today) till Thursday.
