High-level meeting agrees to expand scope of combing operations after Quetta tragedy
Intelligence agencies working day and night to defeat enemy designs
ISLAMABAD : A high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday agreed to expand the scope of combing operations in Pakistan to eliminate menace of terrorism.
The meeting was held in the backdrop of Quetta hospital carnage to review Pakistan’s internal security situation.INP reported.
Federal ministers including Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, DG ISI, DGMO and DG IB attended the meeting.
The meeting decided to take strict measures to stop terrorists’ financial support.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar briefed the participants that there has been progress regarding reforms in madrassas (seminaries) and the authorities are ready to conduct registration of madrassas under the plan.
He said a meeting of religious scholars will be summoned to discuss the matter.
The meeting also decided to summon provincial apex committee meetings to review the implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) on terrorism.
Political and military leadership have resolved to deal with terrorists with iron hand.
Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has sai eradication of terrorism from the country will be ensured at every cost and war against terrorism will continue till the elimination of last terrorist from the country.
An important meeting was held here Wednesday on implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) under PM Nawaz Sharif. Army chief Gen Raheel Sharif, DG ISI, Rizwan Akhtar, interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and others attended the meeting.
PM said Quetta incident is very tragic. The terrorists once again targeted the innocent people and have tried to disrupt law and order situation in the country. Security Forces have wiped out terrorists from KP. Peace prevails over there now.
“the terrorists who were left alive are now finding hideouts to hide themselves. We have to pull out these terrorists from their hideouts and eliminate them”, he added.
He vowed that no one would be allowed to play with the lives of innocent citizens. It is doubtless to say that our enemy is active in sabotaging China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. Quetta massacre is also part of enemy’s designs.
He said that war will continue till terrorism is stamped out. Security forces should ensure that terrorism is wiped out with full force.
Key decisions were taken in the meeting for weeding out terrorism from the country. The participants of the meeting strongly denounced Quetta blast and condoled with the bereaved families of victims of Quetta carnage.
The meeting reviewed the internal security scenario and the situation arising out of Quetta tragedy.
Interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan gave detailed briefing in the meeting about overall law and order situation in the country.
It was also decided in the meeting to implement NAP fully and make the laws for elimination of terrorism more stringent. They agreed on gearing up combing operation in the country. Provincial apex committees will be further activated. Meeting of all the four chief ministers will be called to take them into confidence on this count.
Intelligence agencies will be further coordinated and powers will be delegated to them.
Opp’ joins hand with govt against terrorism
Lahore:Opposition leader Khursheed Shah and Shah Mehmood Quereshi vowed that opposition would stand with government in war against terrorism but they mentioned only speeches and motion could not wipe out terrorism.
” it is a national war will only fight with unity and opposition always stand with government whenever it came in trouble,” said Opposition leader Khurshed Shah in his address to parliament, adding that everyone should fight with terrorism by creating unity in their ranks.
PTI parliamentary leader Shah Mehmood Quereshi said that he came in Parliament with positive mind as the Qetta Tragedy was the national strategy.
“Pakistan is facing terrorism menace from a decade and security forces have laid down 10000 lives in the way, however international community is reluctant to accept Pakistan stance,” he added that Pakistan had paid huge price of war against terrorism.
