Mardan January 23 (Online): A 27-year-old woman was allegedly raped by five persons in the limits of Kharki police station, local sources said on Saturday.
The sources said that the victim woman, a resident of Qasami, told the police that five persons intercepted her near cricket ground in Qasami while she was on her way home on January 20. They took her to a form house in deserted area where they gang-raped her.
According to the victim woman, the alleged persons are Mihran, Hazrat Ali, Talha and their two other friends.
The Kharki police have registered a case against the identified persons under sections 376/337A (i) and 34.
Taking strict action, District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Zahidullah Khan constituted an investigation team and the team has started raids at different locations to arrest the suspected persons.
The police claimed to have arrested two suspected persons identified as Mihran and Hazrat Ali. During the initial police interrogation, the arrested persons admitted the crime of sexual assault and also disclosed the name of two other unidentified people.
