Immediately after the heavy rain and flash flood in Khyber, removal of debris from the Pak-Afghan highway started on Monday evening at various sites of the road.
It is to be mentioned here that heavy rain flood had covered Pak Afghan road with rubbles at different locations that disrupted the flow of traffic.
On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Khyber and under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner Landi Kotal, and the Deputy Director of the National Highway Authority (NHA), work had been underway to remove wreckage from the Pak-Afghan Highway AC, Landi Kotal Inamullah Wazir said.
He said the operation aims to restore the highway to a safe and fully operational condition following recent disruptions.
The clearance drive will continue until all debris is removed, the road is completely cleaned, and traffic can be safely resumed, he added.
He urged motorists to cooperate with the ongoing operation and follow traffic advisories to ensure public safety.
On the other hand as more rain is predicted in the area, general masses have been asked to stay from the spillways and avoid passing though causeways on Pak-afghan highway to shun further human and financial loss.
The authorities appealed to the locals to keep away their children from the flood ways, streams and nullahs and in case of emergency contact with the administration and Rescue 1122.
Meanwhile, two local youth who died in flash flood were buried in their ancestral graveyard on Monday night after funeral prayer in Sadu Khel village of tehsil Landi Kotal. while corpses of three repatriated Afghan nationals were transported across the border in Afghanistan, border officials said.
