Pakistan Council of World Religions Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter on Thursday strongly condemned the burning of the Holy Quran during a protest in Sweden.
Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) the members of Pakistan Council of World Religions Pakistan members Qari Ruhollah Madani, Bishop Sarfraz, Professor Dr Hafiz Abdul Ghafoor, Allama Fakhrul Hasan, Sarab Dayal, Babaji Gurpal Singh, Allama Abid Hussain Shakri, Muzaffar Ali Akhunzada, Mufti Jamil Abid and other in strong words condemned the incident and termed an unacceptable move on the part of the country.
They said that the desecration of the Holy Quran will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The international community and the Swedish government should take immediate action against those involved in this incident or face the Muslim world protests across the globe.
The intellectuals of the whole world, who have respect for humanity in their hearts, are shocked and saddened by the incident in Sweden.
The chairman of the organization and former provincial minister Qari Ruhollah Madani said that in Pakistan all minority groups have condemned the incident and all of them believe in mutual respect of religions.

It is very unfortunate that those who were involved in the desecration of the Holy Book Quran were given full pledge of security by the government of Sweden, adding that Muslim community would never tolerate such action and would raise their voices on every platform.

The Quran teaches peace and respect to humanity, but it is the misfortune of those people that they could not understand its message, but it is the true message of Allah Almighty, which is for all humanity.

The members said that the incident in Sweden is highly condemnable, calling on all Islamic governments and international organizations to make serious efforts to legislate to stop the desecration of Islam and other religions in the West in order to promote world peace and interfaith harmony.
