Islamabad : Federal minister for information and broadcasting Fawad Chaudhary has said that a ‘break-through’ has been made on the process of electronic voting and government will never step back from its stance to implement E-voting in coming general elections.
Fawad was addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Addressing the ceremony, the minister said that meetings of electoral reforms committee will be held in continuity after Eid. Opposition and government have agreed on more than 40 points; however there is still a slight difference of opinion on several points.
The minister said that opposition parties have their reservations on E-voting and EVM machines but we [government] want them to hear our perspective.
Fawad Chaudhary said that however government may step back from its stance slightly but the opposition will also have to show some will in order to reach a productive outcome.
