Pakistan has asked UN Security Council (UNSC) for taking immediate steps to stop genocide in Gaza.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad while giving a forceful statement in UNSC has said more silence over ongoing human crisis in Gaza and Israeli atrocities in not acceptable.
Now the time has come UNSC should take immediate, effective and practical step as per its mandate.
He warned the international community world cannot afford another day of inaction because history will not absolve us from our responsibility.
During the briefing of UNSC on Middle East situation particularly issue of Palestine he raised question how many more brutalities will be required so that security council could take such step which is correct morally, legally and is as per UN manifesto.
He made it clear only expressing concern is not sufficient but immediate and practical steps have become inevitable to stop genocide.
It is imperative to stop Israeli atrocities from becoming routine. If it is not done so it will be blatant insult of international law and human dignity .
He said in his address that over 54000 Palestinians have been martyred so far. Most of them are children and women. Over 122000 have been injured.
This tragedy is depicting scene of unimaginable and indescribable mental and physical agony.
Highlighting 4 important aspects of the crisis he said over 800 health centers have been targeted. Basic equipment is not available in hospitals. Health staff and ambulances are being attacked. This way 57 children have been starved to death. Human aid caravans are either being stopped or being attacked.
More than 80 percent homes have been demolished. Water, electricity and communication system has been destroyed.
More than 28000 women and children have been martyred. 50000 pregnant women are forced to deliver babies in extreme inhuman situation.
Condemning the provocative visits of Israeli authorities of Al aqsa mosque he warned such steps can drift the entire region to tension.
He said in unequivocal terms while concluding his address room for any ambiguity remains no more. There is no justification for adding to tribulations of people of Palestine. Yes, enough is enough.
