Like elsewhere in the country,Youm-e-Tashakor observed in district Khyber on Friday to mark the historic victory of Marka-e-Haq and to pay tribute to the armed forces and the people of the country following success of the operation Bunyan Marsoos.
The day was dawned with special prayers, offered in the mosques for the prosperity and solidarity of the country.
In a simple gathering organized in forces cantonment and attended by civil and forces officials.
Commandant Khyber Rifle Col Asim Aziz Kayani flanked by tribal elders hoisted the national flag, a smart contingent of forces presented salute and the national anthem was sung.
They laid floral wreath was also put at the monument of the martyrs.
Similarly a prestigious moot was organized by the police line, Shahkas; district Khyber that was attended by District Police Officer (DPO), Khyber Rai Mazhar Iqbal as a chief guest.
The district police official laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada and a police party presented a salute on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion DPO, Khyber said that the forces,police and other security had rendered matchless sacrifices for the security of the country.
Praising courage and the high professionalism of the armed forces he declared the success in the Pak-India war as a joint victory of Pak forces and its people.
He appreciated the role of the tribal elders, religious scholars, students etc. in the recent Pak-India combat and said they played an effective role cementing national unity and cohesion.
At the end prayers were offered for the departed souls of the martyred troops.
In the same way, a national flag hoisting ceremony was initiated in tehsil compound, Assistant Commissioner (AC), Landi Kotal office on Friday.
AC Adnan Mumtaz in the presence of a number of tribal elders raised the national flag.
Later on AC, Landi Kotal along with other administrative officials visited the village of Loy-Shelman where they laid floral wreath at the grave of the martyred soldier, Nisar Ali Shelmani who embraced Shahadat during Pak-India war in Sialkot.
In connection with the Day, a simple but prestigious gathering was organized in District Headquarter Rescue 1122, Jamrud, Khyber that was attended by highup and officials of the department.
Emergency Officer Nauman Khan hoisted the national flag, presented a salute and paid tribute to the armed forces.
Scores of programs had been arranged across the district to celebrate the victory of Pakistan.
