Karachi: Feheem Mughal, a young journalist, father of five daughters and a son hung himself Friday morning after unemployment, rising inflation and a Rs 60, 000 debt that became too much for him to bear. According to media reports, Faheem’s wife, who talked to a local philanthropist in a video message after Faheem’s death, said that times were so hard that the family slept hungry for days. “Often, we went without food for weeks,” said his daughter, according to a media report. “He used to bring food home from JDC [a charity organisation] nearby.” Faheem had posted a similar post on Facebook on June 2. “My job is no more, which is why I am very worried. Please pray for me” the facebook post read as. Faheem had turned to drive a rickshaw to make ends meet. Unable to pay off a bank loan of around Rs60,000, Mughal took his own life.
