The ceremony was started with the recitation from the Holy Quran by volleyball player Habiba Khan, followed by the national anthem. The kids of Peace and ICMS School and Colleges presented the national song “Tu bi Pakistan Ha Ma bi Pakistan Hon and Dil Dil Pakistan, Jan Jan Pakistan.
Speaking on this occasion, ADC Shahbaz Khattak lauded the idea of holding different games camps wherein female players from 8-years to 18-year-old actively participated. He said such a camp is very vital for the players at the grassroots level.
He said training and coaching at grassroots coaches should look to create a fun, safe learning environment for young people to learn and prosper within a sporting environment. Children participating in different games including hockey, badminton, rugby, volleyball,, cricket and table tennis at grassroots will have different motivations – but what is important is that they enjoy playing healthy sports activities.
ADC Shahbaz Khan said that holding such camps in six different Games means a lot of talented players would be identified through that way, challenging stereotypes about gender and leadership and offering diverse perspectives, insight and advice to their athletes.
One hundred percent of male athletes have had a male Coaching role model during their athletic careers, to their benefit; young women likewise need and deserve more same sex role models in training and coach, he said.
He said, despite the growing popularity of women games globally, many barriers still hinder female participation at the grassroots level. Cultural norms, lack of access to training facilities, and a dearth of female coaches and role models in the sport contribute to women’s underrepresentation.
Promoting female participation at the grassroots is not just about playing a game; it’s about fostering a more inclusive, healthy, and equitable society. As we champion these efforts, we pave the way for future generations of women to thrive in sports and life, ADC Waqas said. It is time to change the game and ensure that women and girls have equal opportunities to play, lead, and inspire, he added.
Earlier, in her welcome address DSO |Mishal Malik highlighted the aim and objective of holding the coaching, training camps, specially for females. Mishal Malik said that the present government directs to ensure equal opportunities for both females and male. She also thanked DC Charsadda, DG Sports, RSO Peshawar Region Kashif Farhan for extending all out support to her in organizing the camps wherein 150 females participated.
