PESHAWAR
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority sealed a production unit in Shergarh area of Mardan and discarded 1000 liters of fake drink here on Friday.
The unit was set up inside a house where counterfeit drinks were being made in the name of a well-known beverage company Rohfaza. The officials said that during the operation two accused were arrested and handed over to local police.
The operation was carried out on the instructions of Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan.
TAccording to the Food Safety Authority, the unit set up in Shergarh was producing counterfeit drinks with a mixture of water and unhealthy chemicals, while the hygiene situation in the unit was also found very poor.
The operation also seized packaging materials and machines used in the manufacture of counterfeit drinks from the production unit, while two persons were arrested.
According to Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan, crackdown on counterfeit drinks was intensified in the province even before Ramadan.
