KP Governor for payment of compensation to Tanda dam victim families

The Rescue teams and Army divers on Monday recovered 11 more bodies of seminary students from Tanda dam.
According to district police some 32 children were ridding on the boat during a field trip when it overturned in middle of Tanda dam, adding that all the children were below the age of 15. The dead bodies of 12 children were recovered on the day of the incident while 14 went missing and six children were recovered alive. The boat apparently overturned due to overload, the police said adding that children were not having any safety gadget or life saving jacket on the boat.
The Rescue 1122 teams, police, civil administration and Army divers reached on the spot soon after the incident and started search operation. The rescue operation was suspended on Sunday evening due to cold and darkness and resumed on Monday morning and 11 more dead bodies were recovered.
The police have registered an FIR against high officials of Irrigation deptt including Chief Engineer Irrigation department, XEN, SDO, sub-engineer and boat owner.
The FIR has been registered under Section 322/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code at Police Station MRS on complaint of SHO Qismat Khan, however no one was arrested till filing of this news.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Ghulam Ali on Monday expressed grief and sorrow over the death of two dozen seminary children in Tanda dam and ordered strict action against those responsible for the tragedy.
In a statement issued here, the Governor recommended the Chief Minister to announce compensation package for the bereaved families.
He sought an inquiry report from Commissioner Kohat division into the incident and directed the district administration to identify the persons for showing negligence and take strict legal action against them to avert such incident in future. The governor expressed grief and sorrow with the bereaved families and prayed to bear the loss with fortitude.
He directed district administration and RESCUE-1122 to expedite the rescue operation and recover all the missing dead bodies.
