Five more schools in Mardan and one girl’s degree college in Peshawar have been closed down due to infection cases
PESHAWAR
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Tuesday reported 1421 fresh Covid cases taking the active infection count to 14142, according to a health department report.
With 11 Covid-related fatalities, the death toll in the province has reached 6,076, the report said.
Among the fresh infections, Peshawar reported 634 cases followed by 303 in Mardan, 70 in Malakand, 64 in Mansehra, 43 in Chitral-Lower, 25 each in Kohat and Shagla.
Two deaths were reported in Peshawar, two each in Swabi and Kohat, three in Abbottabad, and one in tribal district Bajaur.
With 1,070 persons recovering from the Coronavirus infections in KP, the number of cured persons has reached 185,287.
Moreover, Deputy Commissioner Mardan Habibullah Arif ordered closure of five more government schools here on Tuesday on the recommendations of the Covid-19 surveillance committee following emerging cases.
The schools include Government Higher Secondary School Kohi Barmol Katlang, High School Pat Baba Takht Bhai, Higher Secondary School Gujrat, High School Katta Khat and High School Tambolak.
In a statement, the deputy commission said that schools have been closed for the period of ten days.
53 schools, one each university and a college have already been closed for ten days for the same reasons in district Mardan.
Similarly, the district administration Peshawar also sealed Government Girls Degree College, Hayatabad No1 due to positive Covid-19 cases on the recommendation of district health officer Peshawar, said a handout.
