12th Biennial International Conference on Cardiac Thoracic Surgery at PIC concluded

The Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC-MTI) hosted a three-day international conference on Sunday on Cardiac Thoracic Surgery, concluding with remarkable participation from cardiac surgeons and cardiologists globally, including experts from Pakistan.
The conference featured presentations on cutting-edge and novel cases related to heart diseases, providing a platform for knowledge exchange.
Riffat Anjum Spokesperson PIC said that under the auspices of the Pakistan Cardiac Society, the PIC organized a three-day conference where renowned thoracic surgeons conducted live surgeries, including Minimally Invasive Surgery, Med Cape, TAVR, Thoracic Esophagectomy, Surgical TEE Workshop, and presentations by experts on various topics.
According to the Spokesperson, the theme of the conference, was “Empowering Quality through Collaboration for a Bright Future in Cardiac Surgery,” emphasized the importance of such gatherings in fostering networking, collaboration, and establishing professional relationships.
Participants highlighted how conferences of this nature promote networking and collaboration, fostering opportunities for future cooperation, research projects, and leadership roles.
The conference, jointly organized by the Pakistan Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons (PACVTS) and Peshawar Institute of Cardiology.
Professor Dr. Hasanat, President of the Pakistan Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, expressed his satisfaction with the successful international conference held in Peshawar.
He acknowledged the efforts of the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology in bringing together experts and professionals from various institutions and organizations, promoting the exchange of knowledge and advancements in cardiac surgery.
Dr. Shahkar Ahmad Shah, Chief Executive, Medical Director, and Conference Convener of the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology, expressed honor and satisfaction at hosting this significant event.
He emphasized that providing the best and globally standardized facilities for treatment has always been the institute’s top priority.
Dr. Shah highlighted the institute’s achievements, receiving numerous national and international honors within a short span of three years.
He commended the participation of cardiovascular and thoracic health experts from Pakistan and abroad, contributing to the success of the conference.
The conference also shed light on the importance of increasing representation of women in cardiac surgery.
Women presenters emphasized the significance of empowering women to pursue careers in surgery, addressing gender imbalances within the profession.
