Secretary Provincial Transport Department Zia-ul-Haq and Commissioner Mardan Shaukat Ali Yousafzai have directed the concerned athority to immediately shift all transport addas located in Mardan to the newly constructed modern bus terminal in Chamtar Mardan.
These orders were issued during a meeting regarding the transport department at the commissioner’s office. Earlier, Commissioner Mardan Division Shaukat Ali Yousafzai welcomed the Secretary Transport on his arrival to Mardan.
Deputy Commissioner Mardan Muhammad Fayyaz Khan Sherpao, ADC (General) Saeedullah Jan, Secretary Regional Transport Authority Wajid Khan, TMO Naveed Gandapur and Assistant to Commissioner Revenue Fazlur Rehman besides Motor Vehicle Examiner Inayat Khan and other relevant officials were present in the meeting.
While giving a briefing on this occasion, it was informed that 1350 driving licenses are issued annually in Mardan region. Similarly, besides the general bus stand, there are dozens of stands of various categories.
Transport Secretary said that because of category C and D bus stands in the city, there are traffic problems, therefore shifting of all bus stands to the newly constructed bus terminal in Chamtar is inevitable.
The Transport Secretary directed the Regional Transport Authority to ensure provision of drinking water, clean toilets and all other facilities to the passengers including waiting rooms in all the bus stands of Mardan and Swabi.
Transport Secretary Ziaul Haque directed to implement the axle load management regime in both the districts and said that due to lack of this regime, the roads are being damaged with the increase in accidents.
Similarly, he directed to conduct a campaign against smoke-emitting vehicles and said that these vehicles are polluting the environment. Commissioner Mardan Division Shaukat Ali Yousafzai also presented shield to the visiting secretary transport Mr. Ziaul Haq on this occasion.
