Punjab Food Authority (PFA) foiled a major attempt to supply adulterated milk in the city, seizing 1,500 litres of milk unfit for consumption and imposing fines exceeding Rs100,000 on four milk suppliers.
PFA Director Operations South-I Shehzad Khan Magsi visited check posts set up under the anti-adulteration milk campaign at entry and exit points of the city.
During checking at Head Panjnad, Alipur, a tanker with substandard milk was confiscated, and a case was registered against the supplier at the police station concerned. According to PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javed, laboratory tests revealed a lack of natural nutrition and fat content in the seized milk, which was meant for supply to milk shops and hotels in the city. He said that milk was a complete food, and adulteration in it would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
