PESHAWAR: Disclosure of millions of students leaving government schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Education Secretary has said that he did not know about such a huge ratio of dropout students from government schools. According to the official documents of the Education department, it revealed that out of 571,000 students enrolled in 2017, 4,400,000 have reached the 5th class and a total of 29 percent of students dropped out till fifth class in five years. Among them, 37 percent of girls, 22 percent of boys drop out before reaching fifth grade, the document available here Wednesday. According to the documents Kohistan, Torghar, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank ranked among the first in dropout districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Most in Kohistan, 80 percent of children drop out before fifth grade, the document revealed. A total of 58% of children in Torghar and 55% in Tank did not reach fifth grade and 47% in Dera Ismail Khan, 38% in Swat dropped out before fifth grade while 57 percent in Shangla and only 44 out of 100 in Bitagram managed to reach 5th class.
