In a significant step towards strengthening the police force and promoting greater inclusion, District Police Officer (DPO) Khyber Waqar Ahmed distributed appointment orders to 170 newly recruited police personnel, including 17 women police officers and members of the minority community, during a ceremony held at Police Lines Khyber, official said on Friday.
The newly inducted personnel were recruited purely on merit through the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETA), reflecting the police department’s commitment to a transparent and merit-based recruitment process.
Speaking at the ceremony, DPO Waqar Ahmed congratulated the recruits on joining the Khyber Police force and described their induction as an important milestone for the district’s law enforcement system.
Waqar Ahmad particularly welcomed the inclusion of women police officers, saying their presence would contribute to improving policing services, especially in dealing with women, children and vulnerable members of society in district Khyber.
He said Khyber Police was a force built on the sacrifices and bravery of its martyrs and veterans, many of whom have been honoured with gallantry awards for their courage in the fight against terrorism and crime. He urged the new recruits to uphold this proud legacy by carrying out their duties with honesty, professionalism, dedication and a strong sense of public service.
“The honour and reputation of the force now rest in your hands,” the DPO told the recruits. “You must serve the public with integrity, remain committed to the rule of law and perform your responsibilities without fear or favour.”
Waqar Ahmed said the newly recruited personnel were a valuable addition to the Khyber Police and would play an important role in protecting the lives and property of citizens, combating crime, maintaining peace and public order, and strengthening public confidence in law enforcement institutions.
He also emphasized the importance of discipline, continuous learning and respect for human rights while performing policing duties. He encouraged the recruits to work closely with local communities, respond to public concerns with professionalism and compassion, and contribute to building a safer and more secure environment across Khyber district.
The induction of 170 new Khyber police personnel, including 17 tribal women and members of minority communities, was expected to enhance the operational capacity of Khyber police and improve public service delivery in a district that has faced significant security challenges over the years.
The recruitment also reflects ongoing efforts to make the police force more representative, inclusive and responsive to the needs of the community.
