Muhammad Fawad Khan claims Under-17 title

The 1st Shams Ul Qamar KP Junior Squash Championship concluded at the Qamar Zaman Squash Complex, Qayyum Stadium, Peshawar. The finals of the Under-15 and Under-17 categories were played on the concluding day, with Fahad Arif and Muhammad Fawad Khan winning their respective titles.
Former World Squash Champion and legend Qamar Zaman was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Squash legend Mohibullah Khan, Finance Secretary KP Squash Association Wazir Mohammad, and tournament sponsor Tanveer Khan were also present.
In the Boys Under-15 final, Fahad Arif defeated Atif Ali 3-0. Fahad won the match 11-3, 11-8 and 11-9 to claim the title.
In the Boys Under-17 final, Muhammad Fawad Khan defeated Anas Ali Sajjad in a thrilling five-game contest. Fawad won 3-2, with the scores 11-7, 8-11, 11-5, 12-10 and 11-4.
Muhammad Fawad Khan, who is the KP Junior Under-17 champion, is also ranked fourth nationally. Following his victory, Fawad thanked the Directorate of Sports KP, Director General Sports, Sports Minister and KP Squash Association for their support. He said he plans to participate in the US Junior Squash Championship in December and the British Junior Squash Championship in England in January 2027.
Fawad said his father, Tahir Iqbal, has been working hard with him and has played an important role in his development. He also acknowledged the contribution of his coach, Amjad, in his training and improvement.
The championship was organized under the supervision of Chief Organiser and Directorate Coach Munawar Zaman, with Coach Mohammad Waseem and KP Squash Physical Coach Fazal Khalil also playing an important role in managing the event and guiding the players.
At the conclusion of the event, the chief guest and other dignitaries distributed trophies and prizes among the successful players and appreciated the efforts of the players, runners-up, coaches, officials and organizers in making the championship a success.
