PESHAWAR: As part of the third phase of the Drug-Free Peshawar campaign, a list of 26 rehabilitated Afghan drug addicts, including three children and a woman, was formally handed over to the Afghan Consul General in Peshawar, Hafiz Mohibullah Shakir. The individuals had been taken into custody earlier and treated at rehabilitation centers, where they received the best medical care and successfully recovered. In a meeting with Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud, Commissioner Afghan Refugees, Director Social Welfare Rafiq Mohmand, and rehabilitation center administrators, the Afghan Consul General was briefed on their treatment and recovery. Authorities have traced the families of most of the recovered individuals in Peshawar and other districts, while those with families in Afghanistan will be reunited through the Afghan Consulate. At the request of the Afghan Consul General, the individuals will remain in the rehabilitation centers for a few more days until all families are contacted. The Afghan Consul General expressed gratitude to the provincial government and Commissioner Peshawar Division for their efforts in rehabilitating Afghan drug addicts, calling it a remarkable service to humanity.
