First of its kind, 3-day National Conference on Economic Development of Hazara was conducted in Comsats University Abbottabad. The event was hosted by Haji Iftikhar, Senior Vice President of FPCCI, Member BoD KPEZDMC and KPBOIT in collaboration with World Bank and ERKF. KPEZDMC, SMEDA and Comsats University facilitated the event.
The importance of the event can be gauged by the interests of various stakeholders as it was attended by Special Assistant to PM on Power Mr. Shahzad Qasim, Special Assistant to CM KP on Industries Mr. Abdul Kareem, Finance Minister KP Mr. Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Speaker Provincial Assembly Mr. Mushtaq Ghani, Sentaor Illyas Bilour, ex minister Yousaf Ayub, Secretary Industries Mr. Amer Latif, Secretary Mines and Minerals Mr. Syed Nazar Hussain Shah, Commissioner Hazara Mr. Zaheer Ul Islam, President Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mr. Maqsood Anwar, KPEZDMC BoD Members Mr. Mohsin Raheem, Mr. Adnan Jalil, prominent industrialists and representatives of various governmental and industrialists’ bodies.
The focus of the event was on opportunities arising from Industries, Mines &Minerals, Education, Hydel Power and Tourism sectors. After the speeches of VIPs, panel discussions of expertswere held.
This gave a chance to various stakeholders including industrialists, students, entrepreneurs and government officials to come up with their suggestions and feedback.
The feedback was noted down and will be reflected in upcoming KP industrial policy.
The host and architect of the event Haji Iftikhar said that this is the first step towards implementation of tangible policies which will bring true economic prosperity in Hazara.
He also thanked people who came to attend the event from as far as Chitral, Bajur, Mohmand, Sindh, Punjab and provided their valuable feedback.
