Lahore:At least 30 people were killed in a road accident Monday as two intercity buses collided in Rahim Yar Khan’s Khanpur area, officials said.
“The death toll has climbed to 30,” Hassan Iqbal, police inspector of Rahim Yar Khan, told Reuters.
District Coordination Officer Rahim Yar Khan Capt (retd) Zafar Iqbal earlier told DawnNews he fears the death toll may rise.
Rahim Yar Khan Police Spokesperson Arshad Nawaz said that at least 55 other passengers received injuries.
The accident was so serious that the bodies of the dead and injured could only be recovered after cutting through the bodies of the vehicles, he said.
One of the buses was on its way from Karachi to Lahore while the other was heading to Sadiqabad from Faisalabad, he said.
The casualties were shifted to Khanpur Hospital and Rahim Yar Khan Hospital for treatment and legal formalities.
3 died, 19 injured in Faisalabad road accidents
Faisalabad: Atleast 3 persons were dead and 19 others injured in various traffic accidents in the city and its surrounding areas.
According to Online, a tire of rickshaw was blasted in Muntangomery bazaar as a result rickshaw turned turtle. The passengers riding in it including Sidra (23), Muhammad Hussain (12), Farooq Ahmed (22), Shakila (45), Iqra (23) and Heera Saqlain (22) sustained serious injuries.
In another road mishap, as many as three persons were injured as a result of coalition between two motorcycles. All injured resident of GB-48 were included as Ibad Ali (22), Zeeshan Ali (13) and Saqib Ali (18). The injured were immediately shifted to Allied Hospital for medical assistance.
The injured of various road accidents including Azhar Abbas resident of Shahkot, Kausar D/O Shahid resident of Toba and Shahbaz Ahmed resident to RB-202 were died in the hospital during medical treatment.
At least five persons were injured as the motorcycle collided with the large heap of clay near central jail. The injured were included as Arshad (45), Kausar Bibi (45), Ali Sher (40) and Irum (7). The rescue 1122 immediately reached on the spot and shifted all the injured in hospital.
In road accident near Railway Colony Rehan (24), in Medina Town road accident Guria (25), in various traffic accidents Abkar Ali (42) resident of GB-225, Waqar (40) and Mousa (26) resident of Gorunanikpura were injured. All the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment.
