The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority seized more than 3000 kg of contaminated spices in operation here on Charsadda road near Bakhsho Pull area of Peshawar on Monday.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority in an operation near Bakhsho Pull in Peshawar recovered a large quantity of unhealthy and counterfeit spices from a factory.
The officials said that rice husks were being used in the preparation of spices in the unit.
The operation was carried out on the instructions of Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan, during which more than 3000 kg of adulterated spices were recovered from the unit.
According to the Food Safety Authority, counterfeit spices were supplied to different parts of the city.
According to the Authority, the hygiene situation inside the unit was also found to be very poor.
DG Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan said that during Ramadan, special attention has been paid to ensure quality of food items especially spices, beverages and milk, and crackdown against adulteration mafia has resulted in thousands of kilos of hazardous health and Counterfeit spices and thousands of liters of unhealthy beverages have been seized.
He said that citizens should also support the Food Safety Authority in ensuring public health and in case of any complaint, they should register their grievances on the toll free number of the authority.
