PESHAWAR: Continuous low gas pressure and load shedding in parts of provincial capital creating problems for the residents and despite registering several complaints for the solution of the problem, officials have yet to take any measures to bring the people out of their miseries which they are facing especially after the arrival of winter season.
Irfan Khan, a resident of Swati gate, said that most part of the day the gas supply remained suspended in the area. He said that gas supply either remained suspended or it was available with very low pressure in the hours when it was needed the most.
How we can get breakfast ready when there is no gas in the morning, Irfan said adding that they were also unable to turn on the gas heater to save them and their children from the freezing cold wave which has recently hit Peshawar.
Now the gas load shedding was an expected problem in every winter of the year but it was so irritating that despite submitting several requests, the official was not in a hurry to replace the existing pipelines and giving relief to consumers he added.
Shahzad Ali, resident of Nothia told that the poor and daily wage workers were the most affected from the current gas load shedding because the gas supply was hardly available for one hour in day and night, they cannot afford the expenses of alternative sources like LPG and firewood because of high prices.
My wife wake up early in the morning to prepare breakfast for our children but she couldnt because there is no gas and we are getting gas in the morning neither in night despite that we switched off the geyser to get the gas for cooking but in vain he lamented.
Similarly, Muhammad Osman resident of Sadar Bazaar said that the continuous load shedding and low gas pressure problem compelling the masses to bring cooked food from tandoors, bakeries and hotels.
It was a regular problem that people were facing low gas pressure and load shedding in the past some years but the authorities concerned seems to be sleeping and not bother to take appropriate step for the solution of the ongoing worsening situation regarding the gas supply, he added.
There were reports of low gas pressure and load shedding in most parts of the provincial particularly in Swati gate, Nothia, Dalazak road, Charsadda road, Warsak road, Sadar Bazaar, Nawakali and other areas.
The residents urged the authorities concerned to take concrete steps and solve the problems on immediate basis otherwise they would refuse to pay the bills of natural gas because if they not getting the natural gas as per their requirements then what is the point to pay for it.
