PESHAWAR: Tribesmen from Shalman valley of Khyber Agency have demanded the government to construct roads in the area to prevent accidents.
A road accident killed six people, including five women and a teenage boy,who were travelling from Mullagori area to Shalman valley in Khyber Agency on Thursday. The deceased were buried after funeral prayer on Thursday.
Due to unavailability of emergency healthcare facilities in Shalman area, commandant Khyber Rifles Col Umar Farooq dispatched two ambulances and Pakistan Army health staff to help Khasadars and Levies personnel in the rescue work.
MuhibShalmani, president of the All Pakistan ShalmaniQaumi Movement, said that such accidents have been a routine as the Shalman area of Landikotal has poor road infrastructure.
He demanded the government to construct roads and provide other facilities like health and educational institutions in the hilly area where most girls abandon education after middle class.
Shalman is part of Landikotal tehsil and borders Afghanistan.
