Chinese govt released 1668M to rehabilitate and repair schools in Khyber Agency

KHYBER AGENCY: A senior Khyber Agency administrator has said the Chinese government has released Rs1668 million rupees to rehabilitate and repair the state-run schools which had been damaged in militancy related incidents in Khyber Agency.
All this was told by Political Agent of Khyber Agency,Captain(R) Khalid Mehmood. He said that for the first time the Chinese government was taking interested to rehabilitate the infrastructure of the state schools in Khyber Agency.
“In the first phase of the financial assistance by Chinese government they would reconstruct and repaire 68 government-run schools that had been destroyed by militants in the last few years in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency”,said Khalid Mehmood.
China has released 1668 million rupees to rebuild the selected 68 schools in Bara, while they would also repair the other damaged schools in Landikotal and Jamrud subdivisions in Khyber Agency, he added.
The official said they have provided a peaceful envoirnment to Khyber Agency residents. He said gone were the days when militants were posing threats to local residents in Khyber Agency. He said it was admirable
that China extend financial and technical support in different sectors including communication and starting small industries in Khyber Agency.
Khalid said total 98 schools had been destroyed by bombings and other terrorists activities in Bara tehsil. However, he said they have reconstructed 16 of the schools and provide them solar systems to reduce the shortage of drinking water in the schools.
He said with the financial assistance of the Governor Special Development Programme (GSDP) they constructed six-room each schools at the cost of 12 million rupees.
He said not only schools but other state’s installations have been severely suffered of terrorists activities in Khyber Agency.
He said sum of 1.8 bilion rupees have allocated in Anual Development Programme this year for 232 different projects in Khyber Agency. He said they they have started work to construct state of the art schools in Khyber Agency in the coming months.
He said peace has been restored in most parts of Khyber Agency as they were focusing to improve health and education sectors in Khyber Agency.
The official said work on Rural Health Centres(RHCs) in Loey Shalman and Bazaar Zakhakhel were underway which would be completed in two years.
He said Landi Khana water supply scheme in Landikotal was one of the mega projcts this year which would provide drinking water to 80 percent residents in Landikotal.
He said that four million rupees have been released to the education department to provide the missing facilities in government schools in Khyber Agency.
Agent Khalid Mehmood said that they were in contact with Fata secretariat to provide teaching staff and specialist doctors to degree college and headquarters hospital in Landikotal.
