Role of Governance, management and staff of Pakistan Red Crescent Society is commendable but it needs to be more efficient and active in resolving problems and providing services to the people of FATA

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that importance of more efficient and useful working of FATA branch of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in extending humanitarian services to the people are appreciable, however, there is a need to continue efforts to further build up its capacity.
Addressing the 3rd Annual General meeting of Pakistan Red Crescent Society FATA branch at Governor’s House here on Thursday, the Governor who is also the president of the organization said that Red Crescent Society is rather one of the monumental organization which always remained an active partner of Government in prevailing its services at very short span of time.
The Governor said that the role of Governance, management and staff of Pakistan Red Crescent Society is commendable but it needs to be more efficient and active in resolving problems and providing services to the people of FATA in particular and Pakistan in general.
In the meeting, previous performance of the PRCS FATA branch was also discussed. Mr. Farid Khan Wazir was selected as the Chairman of the society in the meeting.
The Governor said that our country is going through a very challenging period, but due to successful operation Zarb-e-Azb, 80 to 85 % of militancy has controlled.
He said that the emerging challenges and increasing frequency and severity of disasters in the recent past have amplified the role of PRCS and urged for strengthening the response and recovery of the National Society adding that PRCS should be better prepared and more accountable to the population when disaster strikes.
The Governor further said that the FATA branch of PRCS needs to organize itself to a level where it should be able to address the diversified needs of the people of FATA.
The Governor assured his full contribution to FATA branch of PRCS and said that a committee should be set up in order to put forward valid recommendation for a way forward program.
On the occasion Lt. Gen (Retd) Hamid Khan (Chairman PRCS KP) and MNA Ayesha Gulalai was also present on the occasion.
Governor also announced Rs. one million as a donation to the organization.
