Foreigner enterprises’ full preparation for the China International Import Expo (CIIE) that is attracting increasing attention from across the globe demonstrates the strong momentum for economic globalization and the world’s aspiration for cooperation featuring openness, inclusiveness, innovative growth, and mutual benefit.
This was observed at various pavilions of the expo that opened in Beijing on Wednesday in Shanghai.
The expo was scheduled in this extraordinary year with a hope for revival of global economy that is still struggling for recovery amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event has become a bright card for China in promoting openness and cooperation, showing that China will never cease the process of reform and opening-up.
Facing unprecedented changes in the world unseen in a century, China is entering a new stage of development with the expansion of imports, opening-up measures for investment, consumption upgrading, booming innovation, and interconnectivity.
Grasping new development opportunities, China has built several platforms for international cooperation and rolled out a series of major measures for further opening-up. These demonstrated the country’s sincerity to share its development opportunities with the rest of the world, and its far-reaching influence in advancing the establishment of a new development pattern. These also reflected a universally recognized fact that China’s development is an integral part of the lofty cause of human progress.
Many enterprises showcased their new products, technologies and services, and nearly 100 enterprises signed up to participate in the expo in the next three consecutive years.
The exhibition section of Medical Equipment & Health Care Products was particularly popular, and a special subsection for public health and epidemic prevention and control was added for the first time, with the areaexpanding 6 times over the planned area.
Meanwhile, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) is becoming a perfect platform for promoting international innovation and cooperation.
The new products, technologies and services emerging at the event have forcefully vitalized global collaboration.
Pascal Bizard, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Decathlon China said the company was a direct beneficiary of the CIIE which promotes global innovation and cooperation.
He shared with the People’s Daily a story about its fully-autonomous inventory robot – Tally. Decathlon joined the first CIIE in 2018 as a buyer. “We were then looking for a solution to our digitalized global new retail concept. It was at the CIIE, we reached a cooperation agreement with a smart robot company, and Tally was thus developed in just 10 months,” Bizard said.
A year later, Decathlon participated in the second CIIE as an exhibitor and unveiled the smart robot Tally for the first time in the world, attracting global attention. In January this year, Tally was put into service in a retail store of Decathlon in Shanghai. “We will keep investing in innovation and seeking open whole-industrial chain cooperation,” Bizard noted.
