Prime Minister Imran Khan has warned the world of the catastrophic impacts of increasing global warming and climate changes, that has been acknowledged by the heads of all countries, including the British Prime Minister, and a Global Carbon Plus Plan is under consideration the focus of which would be launching international drive for tree plantation.
Revealed this by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Faisal Amin Gandapur on the eve of inaugurating spring tree planting campaign under Peshawar Development Authority(PDA). This time the motto of the campaign is “Clean Green Haseen Peshawar”.
The Minister for Local Government planted poplar tree in Bagh-e- Naran Hayatabad Peshawar along with other officers and got acquainted with the details of tree plantation campaign of the Authority. On this occasion, he mingled with the officials of Horticulture Department of PDA and encouraged them in every possible way besides urging them to make the tree planting campaign popular and a success in all respects as well as to work round the clock for this purpose.
Faisal Amin Gandapur regretted that tree plantation campaign is considered a mere ritual in our country even though it is a about eruption of a huge global volcano of global warming which is constantly engulfing the entire world. But unfortunately very few world leaders could understand the advent of this global threat except our great Pakistani leader.
Faisal Amin Gandapur said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has pointed to this climate change monster long ago. He said that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one billion trees were planted under the Billion Tree Tsunami during the first PTI-led government, which was acknowledged and appreciated globally, while then, he maintained, a more extensive and enthusiastic plan of 10 billion trees was kicked after the government at the Center that is moving ahead successfully. He said that the success of this campaign will help protect Pakistan from the negative effects of global warming.
Expressing satisfaction over the tree plantation campaign of PDA, the minister said that unlike in the past, now every one of our institutions planted millions of trees throughout the year, the positive results of which are beginning to appear in the form of continuous rains, he added. He expressed the confidence that all the departments including the Local Government and Environment would encourage and promote tree plantation with missionary spirit and ensure full participation of the people in the campaign to make it popular among the gross roots. He clarified that without public participation and benevolent ownership of the masses, neither the tree plantation nor any campaign could be proven successful.
